These changes result in malabsorption, diabetes mellitus and severe and chronic abdominal pain.<br \/>\nMoreover, it is possible the development of several complications which will determine the clinical course developing in some cases pancreatic pseudocyst (25-30%), bile duct strictures (40-50%), even pancreatic cancer (1-3%). The mainstay is detecting early pancreatic changes and treating its related complications.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rosemont criteria for chronic pancreatitis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Major criteria A<\/strong><br \/>\n1) Hyperechoic foci with shadowing (echogenic structure \u22652 mm length and width that shadow)<br \/>\n2) Lobularity with honeycombing (well circumscribed, \u22655 mm structures with enchaining rim and relatively echo pure center, contiguous \u22653 lobules)<br \/>\n3) Main pancreatic duct calculi (echogenic structure(s) within main pancreatic duct with shadowing)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Major criterion B<\/strong><br \/>\nHoneycomb pattern of lobularity<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minor criteria<\/strong><br \/>\n1) Lobularity without honeycombing (noncontiguous lobules)<br \/>\n2) Hyperechoic foci without shadowing<br \/>\n3) Cysts<br \/>\n4) Strands<br \/>\n5) Irregular pancreatic duct contour<br \/>\n6) Dilated side branches<br \/>\n7) Main pancreatic duct dilatation<br \/>\n8) Hyperechoic duct wall<br \/>\nRosemont criteria denoting \u2018\u2019consistent with CP\u2019\u2019 is defined as (1) 1 major A criteria and \u22653 minor criteria, (2) 1 major A and major B criteria, or (3) 2 major A criteria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>EUS diagnosis of CP on the basis of Rosemont criteria<\/strong><br \/>\nI. Consistent with chronic<br \/>\nA. 1 major A feature + \u2265 3 minor pancreatitis features<br \/>\nB. 1 major A feature + major B feature<br \/>\nC. 2 major A features<br \/>\nII. Suggestive of CP<br \/>\nA. 1 major A feature + &lt; 3 minor features<br \/>\nB. 1 major B feature + \u2265 3 minor features<br \/>\nC. \u2265 5 minor features (any)<br \/>\nIII. Indeterminate for CP<br \/>\nA. 3 to 4 minor features, no major features<br \/>\nB. Major B feature alone or with &lt; 3 minor features<br \/>\nIV.
