margin:0px 0 0px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- MC 2019- Horizontal -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0127150553352455\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3806776041\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) is a systemic vasculitis of the medium and large sized vessels with a tendency to involve extracranial branches of the carotid arteries.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>1990 ACR Criteria for the Classification of Giant-Cell Arteritis (GCA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Three of the following five criteria were required to meet American College of Rheumatology (ACR) classification criteria for giant-cell arteritis:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Age 50 years or older,<\/li>\n<li>New-onset localized headache,<\/li>\n<li>Temporal artery tenderness or decreased temporal artery pulse,<\/li>\n<li>Erythrocyte sedimentation rate of at least 50 mm\/h, and<\/li>\n<li>Abnormal artery biopsy specimen characterized by mononuclear infiltration or granulomatous inflammation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These criteria have a reported sensitivity of 93.5% and a reported specificity of 91.2% for the classification of giant-cell arteritis compared with other vasculitides.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Revised ACR Criteria for the Classification of Giant-Cell Arteritis (GCA)<sup>a<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse;
