In this disorder, small-sized blood vessels in the nose, sinuses, ears, lungs and kidneys become inflamed and damaged.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Criteria for the Classification of <span class=\"SpellE\">Wegener&#8217;s<\/span> <span class=\"SpellE\">Granulomatosis<\/span> (WG)<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"Section1\">\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">Nasal or oral inflammation: Development of painful or painless oral ulcers or purulent or bloody nasal discharge<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">Abnormal chest radiograph: Chest radiograph showing the presence of nodules, fixed infiltrates, or cavities<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">Urinary sediment: <span class=\"SpellE\">Microhematuria<\/span> (&gt;5 red blood cells per high power field) or red cell casts in urine sediment <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"> <span class=\"SpellE\">Granulomatous<\/span> inflammation on biopsy: <span class=\"SpellE\">Histologic<\/span> changes showing <span class=\"SpellE\">granulomatous<\/span> inflammation within the wall of an artery or in the <span class=\"SpellE\">perivascular<\/span> or <span class=\"SpellE\">extravascular<\/span> area (artery or arteriole)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">For purposes of classification, a patient shall be said to have <span class=\"SpellE\">Wegener&#8217;s<\/span> <span class=\"SpellE\">granulomatosis<\/span> if at least 2 of these 4 criteria are present.
