It is characterized by three dimensions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion;<\/li>\n<li>increased mental distance from one\u2019s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one&#8217;s job; and<\/li>\n<li>reduced professional efficacy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Burn-out refers specifically to phenomena in the occupational context and should not be applied to describe experiences in other areas of life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>References:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mealer M, Moss M, Good V, Gozal D, Kleinpell R, Sessler C.
